Rich Internet Applications (RIA’s)

The web’s success has sometimes been attributed to the simplicity of HTML-based interfaces. However, the lack of interactivity in web browsers can sometimes restrict the functionality of web-based applications. AJAX can do more than many people realize, but it has limitations.
A variety of tools have been developed to address the general problem of “rich” internet applications. The most common is Macromedia Flash™ 8, a development kit for creating Flash-based applications. By using Flash, our designers can integrate video, audio, text and animated graphics to create a rich user interface.   Flash™ can also be a good way to create handheld applications and device management interfaces.
